Submit your game videos!
Hey guys! I am working on a project to help promote RTSNet by making a YouTube video. I want to get EVERYONE to make and submit videos of themselves playing various games. RTSNet is going to host more than just RTS games, so submit everything you’ve got!
What I’m looking for:
Relatively short videos depending upon content. If its a compilation or its funny thats fine but Im not looking for a 20 minute video of you researching skills at maximum zoom in C&C 3. There has to be something going on in the video, Im looking for action and activity not a dull video of you micromanaging a base.
Cool vids! Play EVE Online or Warhammer Online? Record a video of a massive fleet attack! (Sorry, no World of Warcraft videos will be accepted.)
Funny vids! Do you play Garry’s Mod? Make a comic! Build a Rube Gloldberg device and record it! Did you nuke your own base in C&C 3? Lets see it! Im looking for funny, cool and interesting!
Vids of you goofing around! This video is going to be light-hearted and the intro is going to introduce everyone pictures in the video, so for that Im going to need a short video of YOU in the game. This is most helpful if you play a game with customizable avatars, like Counter-Strike Source. If you play EVE-Online a video of your ship up close works as well. I want to be able to introduce everyone in the vid so Im going to need some way of representing each of you and you will be identified by the game you like playing most.
Audio! Along with your introduction, each person featured in the video will have a tagline that goes with them. Something funny or weird you say along with a taunt you frequently use in-game. This is about showing off everyone in the community to the rest of the world!
Youre going to need a way to record these videos, so I have uploaded a pre-registered version of FRAPS here. Its already registered so all you have to do ist install it. Ive got some tips for running fraps:
After installing FRAPS, open it up and go to the FPS tab. Click the “Disabled” button underneath “Overlay Corner.” This will prevent a frames per second counter from appearing on all your videos. It looks ugly and I will have to reject any videos that show their FPS in this way.
Click on the Movies tab and on the right side, click “Half-size” and select “60 fps.” I want smooth videos for this project so anything less than 60 FPS will look laggy. If you select Full-size this will record the full screen resolution for your display. While I would love to use videos of this quality, I have found that it lags out your computer and will end up producting laggy videos. Half-size fixes this issue and still makes for decent quality. Take note of the Video capture hotkey. This is the key you will have to press to begin and end recording. Also note, FRAPS will only record while you are in a game. You will notice your game will lag very slightly while FRAPS is running, this is normal.
Upload your videos to RapidShare and email me the link at dmhorus@gmail.com
If you already have alot of videos that you have recorded in the past, submit those to me as well!
